ZEONT STARFIGHTERS

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Jimmie L. Brooks Jr.
First and foremost, thank you for taking the time to visit the website and for looking around to learn more about me and Zeont Starfighters.
My name is Jimmie. Mostly, I go by Jimmie, Jim, “My Dude,” “Honey” from my beautiful wife of several years, and “Daddy” from two very special, and awesome, school-age children.
I was born in June and am a Gemini. Like most would suspect from a Gemini, I find that I am adaptable to situations, outgoing, inquisitive, and kind to everyone. I’m also, unfortunately, nosy (especially when I’m really inquisitive), anxious whenever there’s something incredibly important on the horizon, and hate all forms of pressure, particularly coming from public speaking.
My career is geared towards working in the IT field. I graduated from my undergrad in May 2004 and earned a bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems. It was at a HBCU, at Fort Valley State University (FVSU), where I pledged and joined the very first, and very prestigious, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated. Afterward, I went to Keller Graduate School of Management and secured a master’s degree in Information Systems Management with an emphasis in Database Security. The combination of both schools, in addition to going beyond to study and obtain certifications, allowed me to become a solution-driven IT professional. It taught me technical proficiencies where I’ve mastered using all Microsoft products, create system applications for Windows and apps for both iOS and Android, analyze “big data” to discover trends, lead system projects across local and state governments and quasi-corporate industries, and can even build a gaming PC with all kinds of perks from scratch. All of this is, of course, thanks to God, but also to Zeont Starfighters.
???
…and without even seeing your faces, I can tell you all are looking at the screen like you read that wrong.
Let me explain.
Back when I was either eight or nine years old, I would type pages worth of stories, early prototypes of these stories, for hours on end on my parents old Packard Bell computer. …Packard Bell, wow. Yes, I am definitely telling my age here, lol. Anyway, the computer had a floppy disk drive, an A Drive, and I would always save these stories to a disk. One day, however, I mistakenly left the disk in the computer, and, I powered the PC on.
…for those that don’t know, back then when a disk was in the A Drive, and you powered on the computer, the machine would immediately format the disk and promptly erase everything on it.
Livid isn’t a strong enough word for how I felt when I realized what happened, lol.
From that day, I swore to myself that I would understand all aspect of the computer so I would not encounter another issue like that again. While continuing with my stories, I started learning how to save them to different forms of media – floppies, hard drives, CDs, USB drives, you name it. Then as the stories grew and became more detailed and more complex, I started storing them differently and used softwares other than Word as I had to tie stories to settings, characters, items, and etc. Hence, the use of Access was needed, and so, I began learning about databases. I used Access until that database had over 50 tables, each of which contained over 800 records of pure text. By this time now, I was at FVSU and Access was too small to contain my all my stories, now collectively called Zeont Starfighters. This was at the mid-way point of the .com era, and seeing as how I was pretty good with computers and such, I declared IT my major and learned advanced skills which helped me to better advance the story by putting it into SQL Server and creating its own application using Visual Basic. From there, I continued picking up skills to be able to tell a better version of the story. I even learned about 3D modeling and animation as a way to show different scenes and pictures. Although animation is a skill I’ve not had much success on, I’m honestly just happy seeing Kenneth, Stephanie, and Jayson on a screen.
Since being a child, Zeont Starfighters has always been there in the background. It is a part of me and is a combination of my creativity, all my experiences, feelings, and analytical thinking. …saying that, I’m curious to see if you can guess where that comes in to play in Story 1, lol. Send me a message on the Home page to let me know what you think.
I’m at the point of my life where I want Zeont Starfighters to see the light of day, and I would like others to enjoy it as much as I have. I want to present it to the world, and, I wish to either entertain or inspire others.
So, with all of that said, I hope you enjoy all that I plan to do with this series, and if I become privileged enough to gain fans, I sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart and hope to get to know many of you.
